CLS stands for Canadian Lumber Standard and was originally manufactured for use in the building of timber-framed houses in Canada. Over the years CLS timber has become more and more popular in the UK for stud walls and other framing projects. The 2 most popular sizes are 50x100mm (finish 38x89mm) & 50x75mm (finish 38x63mm). C16 is generally recommended for most applications and is the most cost-effective option if the correct spans are used. Used primarily in timber frame home construction and for internal and partition wall. Timber sizes are nominal and have smaller finished sizes.
